Aitken Spence Sustainability
To us Sustainability is a proactive approach to maintain the long term viability, profitability and integrity of the business to enable sustainable value creation. Our sustainability practices are specifically embedded within our operations to ensure that it aligns with our strategy for achieving sustainable growth and creating value for our share owners, employees, customers and communities.
We are one of the first Sri Lankan Companies to become a signatory of the United Nations Global Compact and have been a member of the steering committee of its Local Network since 2006. Through this initiative we became a part of a global movement of over 8,000 corporate participants from amongst the world’s leading companies in each sector; partnering the largest corporate citizenship initiative in the world.
Each of the Group’s Companies undertakes a process of leading positive change through the championing of a clearly identified strategic sustainability thrust i.e. strategic differentiation. The differentiation is directly connected to the most significant sustainability focus areas of the operations of the respective subsidiary and therefore becomes a source of sustainable business benefit.
As an organization Aitken Spence places great emphasis on good governance as well as stake holder engagement. We believe that both these factors are integral for any business entity to be successful. Our business practices are constantly aligned with the changing social needs and expectations, ensuring that our progress isn’t isolated.
Fostering a corporate culture that considers growth and sustainability hand-in-hand is what we believe in, and continue to demonstrate this belief through leading by example. The community and environment are entwined to any business activity. As a company, Aitken Spence engages in many activities that focus on the advancement of both these factors.
